What makes Royal Editorial the best choice for my book?

At Royal Editorial, you know you’re getting a quality edit from a trained and experienced professional. At minimum, all Royal Editorial editors:

What genres do you work in?

We work in all genres, though we specialize in science fiction and fantasy for content editing.

What style guide and dictionary do you use?

We reference the following materials during a mechanical edit:

  • Chicago Manual of Style

  • Oxford Canadian Dictionary (for Canadian English)

  • Merriam-Webster Dictionary (for American English)

Do you offer free sample edits?

We do! Sample edits are an essential part of our process for copy editing and proofreading.

Fill out the form here and send us a 1000-word section from the middle of your book (not the first chapter). We’ll get back to you with a completed sample and a quote for the full project.

How far in advance should I book?

We typically book 1–2 months in advance.

What’s your turnaround time?

It depends on the service and the state of the manuscript when we receive it. Typically, we’ll return your manuscript within 2 weeks of the start date.

What are the steps to book an edit?

  1. Fill out the form here.

    • If you are requesting a copy edit or proofread, in addition to filling out the form, send an email to royaleditorialinbox@gmail.com with your 1000-word sample attached.

  2. We will provide you with a quote and an editorial contract. Read, sign, and return the contract.

  3. Pay the $200 deposit.

  4. Prior to the start date, send us your manuscript in a single .doc or .docx file.

What are the payment details?

We charge by the hour for mechanical editing and by word for content editing. All prices are in USD unless otherwise stated. Payment is conducted through PayPal.
